Book Challenges of 2013 and 2014

I'm always up for a good blog challenge. It's a good way to make new blogger friends and a great way to expand your blog, in a way.

A new year means new fun challenges to partake in! So with this new year up and running, I want to look back at the bunch of book challenges I participated in 2013. And when I say "participated" I don't necessary mean completed. xD

2013 To Be Read Pile Reading Challenge

I had 20 on my list, and I ticked off 15. I think that's a great accomplishment! I'm pleased with myself! :)

Romance Reading Challenge 2013

I've been submitting most of the romance books I read during the year, and I've ticked everything on my list except one! One of the books I was really excited on reading "My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris". I COMPLETELY forgot I had it. :/

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge

This was a really fun challenge! I was freaking out the entire 15 days because I was worried I would miss a day. So I would schedule all these posts and reread them before I finally posted them all up.

Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge
I aimed to finish 42 books, and when I did, I just kept on reading and my numbers went up I finished 49 books on 2013. Yay for that!

I don't feel like participating in that many challenges this 2014. I want to freely read what I want and not worry about the restrictions some challenges give me. So I'm just doing one.

Challenge yourself and see how many books you can finish this 2014
I am aiming for something attainable - 40 books
Yay for that!

What challenges are you participating in this year?

[Books] Something Borrowed by Emily Griffin

Goodreads

Started on: January 4, 2013
Finished on: January 10, 2013

Synopsis

The smash-hit debut novel for every woman who has ever had a complicated love-hate friendship.

Now A Major Motion Picture - In Theaters May 6th

Rachel White is the consummate good girl. A hard-working attorney at a large Manhattan law firm and a diligent maid of honor to her charmed best friend Darcy, Rachel has always played by all the rules. Since grade school, she has watched Darcy shine, quietly accepting the sidekick role in their lopsided friendship. But that suddenly changes the night of her thirtieth birthday when Rachel finally confesses her feelings to Darcy's fiance, and is both horrified and thrilled to discover that he feels the same way. As the wedding date draws near, events spiral out of control, and Rachel knows she must make a choice between her heart and conscience. In so doing, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk everything to be true to yourself.

Review

Rachel and Darcy have be the best of friends since they were kids. Darcy has always been the perfect one, who wanted to be better than everyone but in the end she always puts her friends first. Rachel is the one who always puts herself down and basically doesn't have much confidence in herself. Years later, Darcy gets engaged to Rachel's good friend from law school, Dexter/Dex. It's Rachels birthday and some how, Rachel confesses her feelings to Dex and one thing led to another, they wake up naked in her bed the next morning.

I was initially excited to start this book. It was a book that I really wanted to read at some point, so I did. I don't know what's wrong with me but I just wasn't that into it but then my eyes just couldn't stop reading it. xD Lol

As I got to through the book, I got really annoyed at the characters. Darcy is just all about herself, she tries to make everything about herself, she lies to make herself better than others, and I'm just annoyed at her. I know the second book; Something Blue, is about her, I don't know how to deal with that, but she'll be the main character so I guess it'll be different.

Rachel annoyed me towards the middle and end of the book. It really seems like she has no confidence in herself at all! And she's very very naive.

The storyline is new to me; book wise , but I did watch the movie before I read the book. There are times as I was reading when I wanted to just close the book and stop reading. It just seems so dramatic for me... and I enjoy watching gossip girl. I don't know whats wrong with me.

[Books] Romance Reading Challenge 2013

Hosted by Bookworm

1. The challenge runs from January 1st, 2013 through December 31st, 2013.
2. "Romance" isn't limited to steamy Harlequin novels. There is a huge selection of books in this category such as contemporary romance, historical romance, romantic suspense and paranormal romance to name a few. As long as the story has romantic love between the two main characters your selection will fit this challenge. The novels do not need to have a happy ending either, there can also be unrequited love.
3. Choose at least 5 novels to read. You can change your choices at any time. Crossovers between other challenges are fine. All kinds of books count, ebooks and audiobooks too. If you are looking for suggested reading see Best Romance Novels Today or Romance Novels on Wiki or check out Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
4. Read your book selections at your own pace in 2012 then post the link to your review(s). You don't need to have a blog, posting your reviews on Goodreads and LibraryThing counts as well. If you do have a blog and are joining us, please consider linking back to this post either with text or with one of the buttons provided below to help spread the word.

We all know I love romance novels... well, for those of you who don't; I love romance novels!
So here is my list so far. I will be adding to it within the year. :)

Honestly, among this list I'm most excited to read Too hot to touch and My super sweet sixteenth century! They have been patiently sitting on my shelf  waiting for me to pick them up! ahahahaha
