Graduation Day 2013

Last night was my graduation day. It was the night I officially graduated from university with a Bachelors Degree in Business Informatics and was awarded Magna Cum Laude. I've been waiting since December 2012 for this very night.

I wasn't excited for it at all. I dressed up and did my make up and everything!

Dress | H&M - Similar but in black
Shoes | Forever 21 - Desert Cool Booties
Jacket | Thrifted - Similar

These photo's were taken by my mom with her phone. Thanks mom!

As some of you may know, I've been hunting for my perfect graduation dress, and alas I've found it. I paired this burgundy chiffon dress with dark brown ankle high boots and a dark jacket that I'm holding. I got only one good shot of me and my dress alone :( Oh and please ignore how my feet were positioned in the first photo, I have no idea why I was standing like that.

Standing next to and around me are my sisters and brother. Both my sisters graduated along side me as well! Three siblings graduating on the same day, how cool is that! The photo on the left starts with (left-right) my eldest sister Nasreen, my other older sister Najla and then me. On the far end is my younger brother Naser. We're in order (eldest to youngest)!

Thank you to my cousin Yasmeen for this photo!
(I'm in the front row, the 5th person from the right. Look for the boots!)

The graduation ceremony lasted about 2-3 hours and there were about 700+ students so it took almost an hour and a half to announce them all as well as for them to receive their certificates.

During our practices, the professors ordered everyone to stay quiet during the ceremony and forbade us all from wooing, booing, laughing, shouting, and basically from catcalling. And during the ceremony, from the very beginning, the students at the back started to WOOOO and whistle for the entire night. The look on the professors faces when they started were priceless. Though it may have slightly ruined the solemnity of ceremony, the catcalling and etc by the random students specifically from my course (Business Informatics) made it a fun and memorable one. Thank you guys.

From having very average grades in high school to being up front with the honor students as Magna Cum Laude at university. If you told me that I would get Magna Cum Laude when I was in high school, I would have definitely believed you. "Oh waw! Really? I'm going to be that good? Awesome" is what I would say.

Getting this award, honestly doesn't mean much to me. I'm saying this because I want to be about 80% honest with my readers, if there are any...hello?. Those three and half years attending AMAIUB went by so fast like a race car at the F1, and the memories I had during my time at university are something I will always cherish. Someone once told me "Going to university was one of the best times of my life" and at first I didn't believe nor understood him; I was in my second or third year of high school at the time, until now. Going to university was one of the best times of my life. Thanks to the people of course. xD

By the end of the night, I was exhausted from smiling, my hair was frizzy and I desperately needed to take out my eyes (my contact lenses). So we went home to take some more group family photos, I took off my contacts, put my hair up and blotted my oily face. I felt so much better. The things we go through to look beautiful, I swear!

The night ended at a restaurant called "Passions Restaurant and Lounge"; which I decided to review and will be up in a couple of days. It was a very simple family dinner; plus my sisters' boyfriends. Quiet, relaxing and eventful.

It was a night to remember. I received many congratulations and said as many thank you's as possible. I am happy and grateful to finally close this chapter of my life and finally feel free to start a new one without a voice telling me "you didn't officially graduate yet". Thank you to everyone who has helped me get where I am today.

As it is also thanksgiving to my dear American readers. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! May you all enjoy stuffing your faces with turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy!

Have a great day everyone!
xoxo

[Fashion] Shopping for summer clothes during the winter

It's finally winter here in Bahrain (after a week of showers and floods) and I get to wear my sweaters and scarves outside without worrying about sweating my arse off now.

I am not sure whether it's the same in other countries but in Bahrain, whenever it's winter, all the summer clothes go on extreme 50% - 75% off sale. Especially in Forever21. And whenever it's summer, all the winter clothing will be on sale. I love how the world ironically works that way.

So I did a little bit of shopping a couple of days back, and by shopping I mean by trying on a bunch of stuff and only walking out of the store with only one item. I asked myself continuously while I was roaming the store "Do I need a new summer dress? Do I need a new bag? Do I need a new skirt? Would I need to wear these things to work?" and while I was looking at the multiple dresses on the corner, I set myself straight and said "I'll buy a simple dress that I can wear for summer and winter. Done" So I tried it on this very simple blue colored dress and instantly decided to purchase it!

The dress looks quite similar to this:

Forever New Yvette Skater Dress

I absolutely love dresses like these!

And of course, "when something new comes along, one must think of what to wear with it". Or at least I think it goes that way. So I compiled a very simple outfit for this winter.

Winter Blues

Wearing crop tops on top of dresses like this is a great way to turn it into a whole new dress or just turn the dress into a skirt xD

Winter Blues? Well, singles like ahem me sometimes get the winter blues, having no one to cuddle with, to kiss on new years eve, and other stuff that couples do during the winter. I don't want to dwell on that right now. I'm done brooding over things like that, my time as a love sick junky is over. It's all about my life beyond relationships and men.

I want to take photos of me while wearing the dress, but I honestly don't want to go out and deal with the stares and the catcalls right now. It's been a busy week of doing nothing but everything all at once.

Have a great day everyone! Keep warm! :3

[Books] Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

November 14 - 21, 2013

Synopsis

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate--and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative--completely infuriating--creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules--or outright smash them--if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.

Originally only available online as The Office by tby789--and garnering over 2 million reads on fanfiction sites--Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.

Review

Where do I start?

This is kind of my first new adult romance, besides 50 shades; if that counts.

Its all about the attraction between Chloe Mills and her boss, Bennett Ryan. They're attraction grows stronger by the minute, but alas they despise each other, but that's what makes it hotter and they can't seem to keep their hands off the other.

I loved how this book has two POV's; Chloe's and Bennett's. I always enjoy reading a mans point of view when it comes to books like these. I got instantly absorbed into this book from the first page up to chapter 8 or 9. Then I just got bored and uninterested. At first it felt enthralling, then as I moved on, it got predictable.

I started off with the audiobook but couldn't continue on because it was too detailed when it came to the hot stuff. My ears literally started to bleed. I just can't listen to sex scenes. Both my sisters read this before I did, and they both agreed that it'll make your eyes bleed if you do give this one a go.

I got bored yes, it got predictable yes, but I didn't say that I didn't enjoy it. I did. This one is definitely in my top 10 Best Romance novels. It's a great book, if you read it straight and not stop halfway through, to keep all the emotions and feeling that's been built up from page one intact.

Beautiful Bastard is an intriguing and riveting new adult novel, it's sometimes complicated and all the way hot. I recommend this to those who have a boring office job and are looking for something interesting, also if you're into erotic romance with a slight splash of humor and a blunt, bossy and dick headed protagonists this is perfect for you!

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 15 - Book Blogging Mentors

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 15 - Who are your book blogging mentors?

My sister, I am still surprised as how she can juggle book blogging along with her job. 'Tis amazing! I can call her my actual mentor when it comes to book blogging.

But when it comes to the bloggers I look up to - It doesn't only go down to book bloggers but food, fashion and lifestyle bloggers as well.

Well there is
Naj (my sister) from Unputdownable Books
Elizabeth from Delightfully Tackey
Alissa from The Adored Life
Jessie from Mini Penny

Yeah so much for book bloggers. I haven't settled on a particular book blogger mentor. ehe.  ^^;
The bloggers I've mentions are the main blogs I visit and look up to. :3

Who are your blogger mentors?

I have successfully finished this 15 day challenge! Yay! I almost forgot about this post though. My week has been as busy as a bee. xD

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 14 - Deal Breakers

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 14 - Tell us your deal breakers

What are the things about books that bother me the most? It's not much but..

When the protagonist does stupid things
As in completely idiotic things that one wouldn't do in real life because its impractical! It just annoys the hell out of me.

Repeated story lines
As much as I enjoy series, there are just some books that go on the same cycle throughout every book of the series. I can get passed it but just saying that it can get a little boring and predictable.

Over the top details
Details are a great asset when it comes to the perfect novel, but there is something I call Over the top details that is just a little bit too much. Details of what the characters are wearing, about what type of brink was used to build the house, etc. As much as I love the details to fill in the blanks of my imaginations, I feel like the writer is just prolonging the end to make the book longer.

Yeah that's it! That's all I could think of!
The rest of the time I'm too focused on how good the book is to notice what things that bother me. xD

Have a great day everyone! ^^,

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 13 - Under Appreciated Books

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 13 - One under appreciated book EVERYONE should read.

I don't really know if this counts as under appreciated since it was turned into a movie, but...

Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Though I'm not done with the entire series yet, the past couple of book from the series were easy and fun reads. They can be cute and adventurous at the same time because everything is died down to moderate on everything vulgar and brutal. It's a very light and an extremely fun read, if you're into that young adult action packed kind of books.

Let me know what books you think are under appreciated.

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 12 - Fighting Blogger Fatigue

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 12 - How do you fight blogger fatigue?

I honestly don't really get fatigue because of blogging. I enjoy blogging. It relaxes me and because I like to take my time with my posts. :3

But if I do ever happen to get fatigue due to blogging, I would just have a cup of tea or two and let myself breathe because I'll probably need to finish writing this post. Reread the post and pass out.

Other alternatives would be, write a draft post and fix it up the next day. There's no rush is there? I like to take my time with my posts

Have a great day everyone!

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 11- 5 Best Blog Posts

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 11 - 5 of your Best Blog Posts

Five of my best blog post huh? *looks through archives*

To Relax, To Convey, To Enjoy
I think this one is one of my favorite posts. Though it's not a book post it's a fashion post It feels like one of my best posts.

The Castor Chronicles Series Review
The review of the entire Castor Chronicles series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohle. I enjoyed the series but honestly it was a little bit too repetitive.

What to wear when IT attacks
Again, not a book post but a fashion post but ladies, I'm sure this will help some of you when a certain something comes-a-calling on a work day and you're too "blah" to pick out what to wear to work..

The Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas Review
I absolutely love this series. I'm was also extremely happy with this review because well I don't want to boast but it got featured in one of the local news papers here in Bahrain! yay!

DOME Food Review
Ehe.. food review.
I'm sure there are other DOME branches around the world, well I went to the branch here in Bahrain and reviewed their food, service and whatnot.

Well, I personally think these are my five best blog posts. I picked them best on the number of views and through the value of my wits. Ahaha

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 10 - What book to read next

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 10 - How do you choose what book to read next?

Oh this is an easy one.

I usually pick the next book I read by how the book makes me feel (it's all about feelings for me). When I read the summary and if it gets me all hyped up and excited. That's how I know it's the perfect next book that I'll be reading.

Also when a book just arrived in the mail. It's all so new and unread and when you fan the pages it lets out that new-book-smell, it just makes me want to ruffle all it's pages and read it!

It's all about feeling excited. If a book gets me excited, it's the one! I don't know why but choosing the next book to read seems like a ritual of some sort...hahaha

How do you guys pick what book to read next? o.O
Is it similar to how I do it?

[Fashion] What to wear for Graduation Day

Hello there dearies!

I've been waiting a long long time for this day come. Since December 2012 to be somewhat more precise. I officially took all the exams I needed to take to get my Business Degree and waited almost a year for this Graduation Ceremony to arrive.

How my university infuriates me to hell, I don't know how I've and the entire student body pulled through, but I am happy to be almost done with it once and for all.

A month ago, when the graduation date was officially announced, I literally freaked out and started thinking of what I can wear. My sister, my good friend Sasha and I, made a date to go dress shopping, and oh boy was it frustrating. All three of us couldn't find the perfect one.

It's really funny because when we all separately went shopping a few weeks after that day, we all found our ideal graduation dress.  But before that, trust me, I was completely blank and irritated because I had absolutely no idea what type of dress I wanted to get. I spent days thinking about it and I've even had dreams about it because I was so anxious.

So I made it easier for myself and made a pinterest board filled with all university graduation type dresses that I thought suitable for the event. Graduation Dresses

Now before we get into what type of dress to wear, we need to consider a few things:

Location
Where exactly is the ceremony going to be held?

In a hall at a hotel
In the middle of field
In the school gym
In the school auditorium

It's not only the dress I'm worried about, it's the shoes. If it's a field with grass or sand, expect your stilettos to sink. Try out some flats, a chunky heel, wedges, or heeled boots. Otherwise, any other type of heels/flats will do well on tiled or carpeted floors. :3

Weather
Is it going to be cold? Is it going to be raining? Is it going to be hot and humid?

Now we don't want to be sweating inside and probably through our togas for a couple of hours, nor do we want to freeze. Unless there will be proper air conditioning or cool but not freezing weather, then your good.

Check your weather forecast on the week of your Grad day and hope for the best. Dress your best for yourself and the weather! xD

Your Purse
Now ladies, the dilemma of leaving your phone, wallet, etc. with your family or keeping them with you for the entire ceremony.

If you want to bring your things with you, keep them to a minimum - phone, wallet, lip balm, tissue.
You don't want to be carrying around a huge bag of your things on top of your toga, so just have a clutch with a thin strap or a chain strap to go inside your toga. (sneaky sneaky) Or if you're lucky enough, you'll find your ideal dress with pockets! Don't we all love dresses with pockets, because I know I do! xD

Okay okay, on to the dresses.
What to wear
So here are a bunch of dresses that I found Graduation Day appropriate. xD

Body-cons
Be them sleeveless, or long sleeved
They are the perfect choice if you want to show off your curvy slender body and give out that intellectual and professional look. It's perfect for the office too.

Now this lacy navy dress with a slight pleated skirt is perfect in my opinion. Basically anything with a slightly pleated or a basic pleated skirt is perfect for a graduation ceremony.

Here we have a whole variety of dresses that can spike up your inspiration.

Graduation Dresses

A tip: If your toga is black, keep your dress any other color besides black. Imagine you're dress and toga blending in together, if you're alright with that, then go for it!

With the perfect dress, comes the perfect pair of shoes!

High School or College/University graduation day. After this day it's time for you to go out into the real world and be who you've trained to become.

I hope this helped! :3
Good Luck Ladies!

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 9 - Why blog about books

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 9 - Why do you blog about books?

My sister was the first to start an actual book blog and honestly, I just copied her, like I've always done since the beginning for my time. Just seeing her interact with so many different people through her blog inspired me, and I guess it's what pushed me to actually start up my own book blog.

But I didn't want to only keep it as just books. I combined all the things I liked and saw myself doing in the future someway or another and just made a blog about it all. Hence "Interested in ALL" came to place.

And that's basically it! :3

To those who have book blogs
Why did YOU start a book blog?
I'm interested to know why.

More about the book

Summary
After everything that has happened, Grace goes to the Everglades to live with her grandmother, Birdee. Even though she is now home-schooled by her bird-obsessed grandmother, the move gives Grace time to relax. She learns to scuba dive and starts boating with old man Rex, Birdee's casual friend/boyfriend.

One day while out in the marshes of the Everglades, Grace rescues an abused Florida panther, currently on the endangered list. The more she dives into the animal’s horrific condition, the more she ventures into the underground world of the roadside zoos that run rampant in Florida with a total disregard for the law. Eventually, she stumbles upon one large roadside zoo filled with a variety of endangered and illegal animals.

Before she can gather evidence and report her findings to the authorities, she is kidnapped by the ruthless owner and dragged deep into the Everglades for a hunting challenge. Only this time, Grace is the prey.

During a sick game of cat and mouse, Grace is offered one chance at survival. With a one-hour head start and very little supplies, time and skill are now all that stands between the hunter and the hunted.

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 7 - Blogging Quirks

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 7 - Talk about your blogging quirks

I don't have much blogging quirks, or at least I don't notice them.
Well anyways, here are a bunch that I could think of:

  • When I finish a book, I have to straight up review it. I can't just leave it hanging since the after-effects of the book is still fresh in my mind.
  • I try to be completely honest and nice as possible in my reviews. Even if I don't like or can't relate to the book.
  • I sometimes take notes when I read to help me with my reviews.
  • When it comes to challenges like this one, I get so freaked out that I have to schedule a whole bunch of posts so that I don't miss a day.
  • I make my own background, header, button, etc for my blog. I can't let anyone else do them for me.
  • I try to keep my blog folder organized with all the photos, review drafts, and .psd files.

Oh gosh that was hard to think of. Anyways, that was fun! xD

What are YOUR blogging quirks!
Let me know because I would love to read them! xD

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 6 - Book Shopping

Today feels like a blah day for me, but anyways, here goes!
This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 6 - Describe how you shop for books

This is how I go book shopping, through Book Depository. Gotta love that free shipping. For those of you who don't know what book depository is, it's a site where you can buy books at a fair price with free shipping. They ship worldwide. Because of them, I only resort to buy books online instead of going to the bookstore.
Check them out - bookdepository.com

The bookstores where I'm in (Bahrain), 1.) don't have the books that I want, or when they do, it's the second or third book instead of the first. 2.) they are a little bit over priced. I would get a book at book depository for $10 and get it from the bookstore at $18. I don't even care that it takes almost a month or so for the book to get here, as long as it gets here and I get to read it. xD

But when I physically shop for books from the actual bookstore. I would browse through the entire fiction area than move to cookbooks and lifestyle area. And after all that browsing, I would just walk out of the shop with only one book.

How do you go book shopping?
I'd love to read about it!

[Books] 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Day 5 - Tear Jerker

This is the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that was created by April from Good Books & Good Wine. It is basically posting up random post with questions from the photo down bellow. It's all pretty fun so far, so come and join us!

Day 5 - Recommend a Tear Jerker

The book that's made me cry...I don't remember the last book that really made me cry. I don't usually cry; like sobbing swollen eyed crying, it's usually just one or two tears that I have to fan my face to dry out.

I think it was Goodnight, Brian by Steven Manchester. (Review, Amazon)

I received this book from the man himself; Mr. Manchester, for a review.

Goodnight, Brian is about a young boy who is ill and was declared unable to make it in the world, but his entire family; especially his grandmother, kept their faith and hopes high for the best.

This book was very emotional and heartbreaking and I think it serves as a tear jerker.

What was the last book that made you sob like a baby?
Let me know! xD
